Hi – my name is Robin Pearton, and welcome to the Hockey Factory! I have been the Director of Hockey at Durbanville High School since 2012, and with 24 years of experience in the hockey industry, as well as being an experienced player, goalkeeper and coach I am able to offer a unique approach to teaching:
Hockey is my life. It has been since I first picked up a hockey stick at the age of 13, and I have dedicated my life to the sport. I want to share the passion and love I have for the game with my players, hoping it will bring them the same joy it has brought me over the years.
My philosophy is simple; as long as kids are playing hockey, it doesn’t matter where or at which level they play.
I will dedicate my time to anyone who wants to work with me, young or old, WP Players or C-team players. Our focus will not only be to produce good players, but to offer a holistic approach that creates well rounded, down to earth players. No one should ever take credit for a child’s achievements or hard work except themselves, and they will be celebrated for each milestone reached.
My mission is to grow the game of hockey in Durbanville and beyond, and to make sure kids have a safe space to enjoy the game while sharing my knowledge with other coaches, helping them to grow and learn as well.
The hockey Factory is hosting weekly coaching clinics that follow a specific growth plan for our junior hockey players.
Schools nowadays put all the focus on winning and being the best. Here at the Hockey Factory, we focus on creating a safe and fun space for players to learn and grow. We teach them basic skills and give them opportunities to use these skills in match situations.
As we become more competitive, we lose sight of what sport should mean to children. As children we want to play the game because it’s fun, because we can play with our friends and make new ones. Children need to feel free to make mistakes and learn without the fear of ridicule, and that is exactly what we strive to provide.
MATCHES are played on Saturdays.
(Subject to time of year and availability.)
HOLIDAY TOURNAMENTS are hosted during the April, June, September and January school holidays.
